PCI stands for Peripheral Component Interconnect. If you find a port that’s the same as the highlighted one, then your motherboard is equipped with a PCIe x16 slot. You’ll see something that resembles the one in the image below. Remove the case or side panel for your PC to locate the motherboard. If your computer uses an integrated graphics chipset as its primary display adapter, you must first enable the PCI Express slot from the BIOS menu before switching to a PCIe video card. The PCI Express slot on your motherboard allows you to connect video cards using the PCIe bus standard. Generally, only GFX cards come in the x16 form factor while USB, network, & audio cards, among others, mostly come in x1, x4, or even x8 sizes. Shorter slots provide a fewer number of PCIe lanes, reducing available bandwidth.
